Our doors first opened on February 7, 2003, when a dedicated volunteer named Jean transformed a vacant Youngfield restaurant into a shelter for animals with nowhere else to turn. What began as a bold and heartfelt vision has since grown into a lasting rescue effort.
Today, Angels With Paws is led by its board of directors, which carries this legacy forward and remains deeply committed to the values on which the organization was founded.

Our Mission
Angels With Paws is a mostly cage-free cat rescue dedicated to compassionate care and placement for cats in need, especially those with special medical and behavioral challenges.
We support pet owners facing hardship by providing help with spay/neuter services, pet food, or safe surrender options when needed.

Special Needs Care Residents include seniors and cats living with FeLV, FIV, diabetes, and incontinence.

FIP Treatment We proudly treat and have successfully saved cats diagnosed with FIP, offering hope where few options exist.
Shelter & Care Philosophy
Our daily routines are built around calm, choice, and patient attention. Cats have room to settle in, receive medical and behavioral support when needed, and move toward adoption at a pace that works for them.
Community Network
We work closely with compassionate individuals and organizations across Denver to reduce pet overpopulation through spay/neuter advocacy and public education on the harm of declawing.

A New Chapter
As our mission and impact continued to grow, so did the need for more space. In March 2023, Angels With Paws proudly purchased a new building, allowing us to expand our facilities and improve the level of care we provide.
After months of preparation and dedication, we officially moved into our new shelter in August 2023—a major milestone in our journey to save even more lives.
Our Greatest Challenge
Despite our growth and impact, rising costs for operations, supplies, medications, and veterinary care have placed Angels With Paws in a critical position. We are currently at risk of closing our doors and are reaching out to our Angels community for support.
With your help, we can continue this life-saving work and ensure that the cats who depend on us always have a safe place to land. Together, we can keep hope alive—for every paw, every whisker, and every life we touch.
